Jen

Forsaking her days as a shiftless nomad, Jen Cramer has returned to IAE as Director of IAE's Ecological Education program. After 3 years with IAE as a conservation biologist, Jen attended graduate school at the University of Vermont’s Field Naturalist Program, completing a thesis examining the role of the Biscuit Fire on the species composition of serpentine fens in the Klamath-Siskiyou Region. Jen has also taught for Ecology Project International in Costa Rica and the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) and researched ecological dynamics in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, New Hampshire’s Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest and H.J. Andrew’s Experimental Forest. Jen’s specialties include serpentine ecology, mentoring interns and teens, and creating community partnerships to bring citizen science to the forefront of local restoration. When she is not writing grants, Jen finds great joy in helping the future stewards of Oregon discover the beauty and wonder of the place they live through service-learning.
