Restoration Ecology Paid Internships

The Native Seed Network (www.nativeseednetwork.org), a program of the Institute for Applied Ecology (www.appliedeco.org), will be hiring up to three interns this summer for field work and related activities.  Our paid positions are intended to provide field experience to individuals considering restoration ecology or conservation biology as a career.

Native Seed Collection and Restoration (2-3 positions):  Interns will be collecting seed from native prairie plants, including several threatened species, for restoration throughout the Willamette Valley.  Field work will also include collecting data for Common Garden experiments, as well as providing assistance on wetland restoration projects.  Applicants with plant identification skills are encouraged to apply.  All field work will be conducted within the Willamette Valley and does not require overnight travel.  Mid May through August (with the possibility of extension). Qualifications:     

  • Interest in restoration ecology, conservation biology, and botany
  • Plant identification and ecological research skills (or enthusiastic willingness to learn)
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work long hours in hot, dry or cold, wet conditions with exposure to poison oak

 

Compensation: $9.00/hr.  Housing in Corvallis is not provided.

 

To Apply:  Send a letter of interest stating when you would be available to start work (this is a MUST), resume, transcripts (unofficial is fine), and two letters of recommendation.  Non-U.S. residents must also include a copy of their work visa or an application for a work visa.  Applications will be considered upon receipt.  Applications must be received by Monday, March 3, 2008, and may be sent via mail, email, or fax.

Attention international applicants!
